Folks,

Attached is a file with code and output for a series of linear interpolations.
 This runs about 600 times faster in Matlab.  Not sure why.  This emulates
part of a program I'm writing.  I don't need to run in Octave but some of the
people I work with do.

I'm using an old version of Matlab:
MATLAB Version 7.1.0.246 (R14) Service Pack 3  (2005)

Maybe someone can speed things up?

BTW, I was one of the first contributors to Octave back in the early 90's. 
Wrote the binary data interface.
