Update of bug #53348 (project octave): Status: None => Fixed Open/Closed: Open => Closed _______________________________________________________ Follow-up Comment #1: This is done on the stable branch with https://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/00d42b86d0a5 I've tested with and without this new options, and with and without fontconfig and it seems to do the right thing. Distributions that want to eliminate duplicate files should configure Octave with something like ../configure \ --with-system-freefont=/usr/share/fonts/opentype/freefont Octave expects to find the files "FreeSans*.otf" in that directory. and declare a dependency on the appropriate distribution font package.
