Follow-up Comment #15, bug #53526 (project octave): @Dan: The reason the string is translated is because it is the default text shown when the widget is created. One could have something like "Type text in this widget" which would appear in slightly translucent gray. That phrase would need to be in the user's language. I think you're right, a spinbox could work for this instance.
