@Philip: Does setting JAVA_VERSION make any difference?
Could you please check with the Registry Editor what the respective key names
are? For me they are:

For Java 5 and 8:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment

For Java 9 and 10:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\JRE

What does the following command return for you?

winqueryreg ("HKLM", 'SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\JRE', "CurrentVersion")
