Follow-up Comment #17, bug #39257 (project octave):

Hmm, maybe this bug is fixed now except for removing the condition and error
message in ov-fcn-handle.cc?  I did that and the few simple tests I tried
worked.  So I pushed this changeset on stable and merged with default:

If there are other test cases that fail, then please file new bug reports
about them so they can be added to the test suite and I'll also try to take a
look.
