Follow-up Comment #8, bug #53654 (project octave):

I don't quite understand why, but if this is intentional behavior of (core)
Octave, then let's just CLOSE this issue.

(I assume Carne will adapt the image package to Octave 4.4. at some point of
time. It nevertheless runs fine currently. I think a bug report for this won't
help much in this respect.)
