Follow-up Comment #17, bug #53733 (project octave): The bug I referenced https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8183188 points to https://access.redhat.com/security/vulnerabilities/stackguard?sc_cid=70160000000gzltAAA& I think ASAN uses stack guard pages also. Does gdb? Is that what causes the program to crash when running in those environments? The OP mentioned that the problem appears on some systems an not others.
