Follow-up Comment #7, bug #53861 (project octave): Actually, that's not what the issue is. The error is happening prior to that in the __print_parse_opts__.m file. Attached is a simple patch that appears to allow tikzstandalone for gnuplot toolkit while creating a mile error for qt and FLTK (i.e., "GL2PS output"). We must have only tested "tikz" and not "tikzstandalone". The difference between the two is more TeX-specific info at the top of the file and a last line that ends the TeX commands.
