Follow-up Comment #6:

Thank you for the debugging and fix.

There's no need for the special handling if image is RGB.  We can just add an
extra ':' for the third dimension and it will work even if that dimension is
not there.  I have pushed
http://hg.code.sf.net/p/octave/image/rev/70c74897a69c to fix the issue and
also added some tests for the future.
