Details:

(I've noted this behavior for a longer time but I figured it was due to a
lightly screwed up qt-settings file, see below.)

Steps to reproduce:

* Install a fresh dev Octave, with no existing qt-settings file in the way
* Right-click column header in browser tab (at that moment only file/dir names
are shown) and select "Time modified"

==> result: a horizontal scroll bar appears that indicates a ridiculous width
of the file name column, see attached pic.
A bit inconvenient as not all columns can be shown at the same time.

In another occasion it was just the (rightmost) "Time modified" column which
was too wide but that wasn't a big hindrance except for an unneeded horizontal
scroll bar. So I didn't bother.

I also attach the qt-settings file after having done the above steps (+ a few
more that aren't related AFAICS).
