Follow-up Comment #1:

Now that the Qt toolkit is available for Mac users, including those with a
retina screen, I think I can close this report as won't fix. FLTK doesn't get
new features and, except when using the pure cli version of Octave, its use is
discouraged on Mac where GUI elements must be instantiated in the main thread
(which is not the case for FLTK).

Closing report as "Won't Fix".
