Follow-up Comment #3, bug #55259 (project octave): No, oct-file-pkg-add is only created for 'make install', not 'make dist'. It is not included in the dist source archive. The individual PKG_ADD files in e.g. libinterp/dldfcn are deleted on 'make clean'. They are as much a part of the object code as anything else in the build tree.
