Subject: [Octave-bug-tracker] [bug #65511] Custom editor launching when not anticipated
Date: Tue, 26 Mar 2024 18:18:30 -0400 (EDT)

Update of bug #65511 (group octave):

                  Status:                    None => Need Info
                 Summary: Cannot edit or execute graphics m-file => Custom
editor launching when not anticipated

Follow-up Comment #8:

Trying to understand if there is a bug here or not.

It seems that you want to edit m-files within Octave using the built-in
editor. When you upgraded to Octave 9.1, the "Use custom editor" box was
selected with a command line that included emacs. But, for whatever reason
running emacs does not work and throws an error. Now, after unchecking the
"Use custom editor" setting, there is no error and the file opens in the
built-in editor. Is this right? Is this what you want, or do you still wish
to use emacs as an external editor?
