The term "development environment" is lifted from the R14 brochure. It is a rather flowery way of saying that the malab console has (i) pop-up menus for just about anything that one might want to do, including profiling, editting and workspace views; (ii) a reasonably good editor; (iii) some of the pop-up menus are reflected in toolbars; and (iv) a variety of windows that can be displayed that include the command console, workspace, command history and so on. Living without it is easier with X than with Windows, naturally. The Matlab "environment" is more or less OS independent.

What do you mean by "development environment" and what are the key
useful features?
