Randy,
I have just built gcc3.5 and have given gfortran a
whirl -largely to test the fortran95 aspect, using the examples from Meissner's
text book. My next step was going to be to build octave using gcc3.5 and
gfortran. It will now have to be in a couple of weeks time because I am
away to do some experiments at General Atomics. I'll let you all know what
happens.

It looks like g77 will be phased out by gcc 3.5 and
replace by the upcoming FORTRAN 95 complier. Does anyone know this will affect
Octave?
