If I remember correctly, I think all I did was compare the list of
functions in Octave, Octave Forge, and Matlab.  I didn't put a lot of
thought into the individual functions in the list.  I was simply
looking for

  Matlab functions that were in Octave but not in Octave Forge (good)

  Matlab functions that were in Octave Forge but not in Octave (good,
    we just need to move them to Octave)

  Matlab functions that were in Octave and Octave Forge (not as good,
    since we need to reconcile the versions and move them to Octave)

  Matlab functions that are not yet in Octave or Octave Forge (least
    good, since these may need to be written)

and I was curious to see what the level of coverage was.  I haven't
checked lately.  Are the taillights closer or farther away?
