gnuplot-specific options, then you are tying your code to gnuplot, and

Can I make a pitch for an __optstr__(h, "") that will allow stuffing a single 
string in the output stream between settings options and issuing plot commands in 
__uiobject_draw_axes__?  What's the long term roadmap?  Convert script files to C++ code 
at some point after most bugs have been worked out?
