Actually I ended up cloning again from http://www.octave.org/hg/octave
and copying files to the new repository. :(
Unfortunately there is only one level of rollback, so that method only
works if you have only done a single commit. For merging multiple
changesets, I think you need to use the method outlined in the tips
and tricks page I sent the link for. If this is something that comes
up often, it could probably be encapsulated in a single shell script.
As I understand my approach was not the most elegant,
I believe a script to make the correct way easier would be useful.
