CVS logs?

I am working again on generating a code_swarm video for Octave. I
think it could be quite interesting. :-)

Do we have CVS logs from Octave's prehistory, or are they lost? If
they still exist, I'd like to have them, please. Otherwise, I could
use the manually-generated source Changelogs, with the disadvantage
that they will be a little less accurate since not all maintainers
remember to always update the Changelog when they commit.
