The FSF is hosting the first US GNU Hackers' Meeting in Boston this
March (18-21).
The registration page for the meeting is
http://groups.fsf.org/wiki/LibrePlanet2010/GNUHackersMeeting
Current registrations include John Gilmore (original GNU Tar
developer, GDB maintainer, founder of Cygnus Support and EFF), Chong
Yidong (Emacs maintainer), Karl Fogel (Emacs hacker, subversion
author, and somehow involved in launchpad), and Brian Gough (GNU
Scientific Library maintainer).
I'm also planning to attend and it would be great to see other Octave
developers at the meeting.
