Great work! I think this looks good, and hopefully we are converging on sth the 
community could 
support. I personally would 
1) narrow the oc just a bit (if possible) 10-15%, but I don't know how to do 
this in latex
2) it looks like the bottom of the oc is cut off (flat lower edges)?
3) I liked the \nu looking v better than this capital V. The \nu also was a nod 
to the gnu aspect of 
octave

Is the octave part latex'able? If so, could you post that code?
