One more clarification: where I said ../doc above I really meant ../doc/interpreter:I think that I have resolved the problems with texi and newer texlive-2010. And, I have found a set of the texi* components which can be installed so that no changes are needed in the current Octave source. Right now the process of locating and installing the texi* programs which work correctly is a bit cumbersome. I want to try another full build and another update without having to patch anything. And, this will test the latest change to use of PDF for the Manual. While, at present, these installation procedures are specific to Fedora, the same idea will apply to other Linux systems. The specific versions of the texi* files that work with Octave should remain the same, just the way to get them installed will differ somewhat from one Linux flavor to another. It is possible that when the texlive people gain some experience with how to manage repositories and when texinfo gets adjusted so that it can be installed with texlive-2010 without forcing it to ignore dependencies, the install of these packages will be possible using the standard procedures and this will all be compatible with the Octave usage. Another report with all the details after a few more builds... Michael |
