When rendering the demo to the screen I do not see any rotation of the
labels. However, when I print to a PNG file the labels are rotated. Have
you tried printing the figure to a PNG file and looked at the results?

If I remember correctly, this is due to differences between FLTK and GL2PS ... I don't recall the details.
