Octave 3.2.4 with Wine

In my further adventures with Windows, I tried installing the Windows
binary of Octave from Octave Forge on my system with Wine.  The
installer appeared to work, but it fails with

  $ wine .wine/drive_c/Octave/3.2.4_gcc-4.4.0/bin/octave.exe

Has anyone here tried to do this and succeeded?
