For the stable branch, I see the error ...
.../doc/interpreter//data.texi:339: Cross reference to nonexistent node `Data
Structures' (perhaps incorrect sectioning?).
makeinfo: Removing output file `octave.info' due to errors; use --force to
preserve.
It looks to me like this was introduced by the Changeset below.

The attached changeset fixes the problem for me. Is this the correct thing to
do?
