Don't panic. :-)

Calm down.

The bug affects only one platform as far as we know. Marco has fixed
it on Cygwin and GNU/Linux. It's a bug, but it's not as critical as
you make it out to be. It's only critical to you. We all have other
bugs we care deeply about.

Also, it's the holiday season. New Year's is coming, people are
dedicating less attention to Octave. Be more patient.

No, this is not the solution. We need to understand the actual
problem. You are proposing a heavy-handed solution because you don't
understand the actual problem, and neither do we. We should work to do
that instead of trying to revert to an old barbaric method of linking
that happened to work for your case.

Marco has already proposed a solution that seems to work for other
cases. We are only missing yours.
