I added a tpaps function in the Splines package that interpolates or smooths values in an arbitrary-dimensional space using thin plate splines ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thin_plate_spline ). It roughly parallels the corresponding Matlab function. Testing/reactions/improvements welcome.
