It's my work.

      I'd like to try to get these changes merged upstream if possible.
      Have you tried doing that?



No, I'm not interested in doing it. My last experience with one of the
readline developer (in the context of CLN/GiNaC) has been chilling enough.

Not at all. Note however, that this work was based on readline-5.x. I never tried to port it to newer versions.
 
 Since it is your work, would you be willing to sign a copyright assignment form if needed?
