Thanks for the update, Kai! Please also add a preliminary timeline and
goals for the midterm and final evaluations (have both minimum goals
and hoped-for or "stretch" goals).

In terms of the segmentation faults, maybe try test cases that only
call the format conversion functions in order to isolate the problem?

Do you want to talk on Skype or another VoIP toward the end of this week?
