I have pushed changeset
http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/99ffa521ecec
that implements editing the function related to the actual word (via the
terminal). The shortcut is Ctrl-E since Ctrl-D is already in use by
qscintilla itself (doubling actual line).
