Hi Sandeep. Your Task needs to be much better described, otherwise I don't
think it'll be accepted. I'd like to see more clearly the expected
deliverables. Also, you'll be expected to start coding from the start, so
now is the time to do most of the planning. These are some things that I'd
like to ask you to do immediately:
- Please get rid of the Hamiltonian system stuff -- you can't do two
projects in one summer.
- Group the missing functions in: file I/O; web maps; map display; data
analysis; and coordinates, geodesy, and projections (keeping the
alphabetical list intact).
- Make a table matching each missing function to an existing implementations
in the geod toolbox.
Based on that we can see more clearly what would need to be written from
scratch, or using other FLOSS libraries, such as the widely used PROJ.4
(look it up online). Please convince yourself it is not realistic to expect
all missing functions to be delivered under normal circumstances. I'll give
you expert advice to prioritize functions. I can anticipate that Weeks 0
and 1 you'll likely be busy integrating geod into Octave, including its test
cases. Likewise, I'd like to see self-contained blocks of functions
allocated for each Week.
Thanks,
-Felipe.
