I doubt it. You'll just have to remember to delete it again if the
package is updated (I've updated and forgotten once or twice so far).
The OTF format of this font is used by TeX Live, that's probably what
pulled in this font package. I honestly don't know what this font
format would be used for outside of a web server context, but I
haven't noticed any problems on my system.
