sharing pre-compiled package binaries for windows

can you remind me why that would be a bad idea?

I just compiled the image package and its dependencies for a friend 
who then simply copied the folder
c:\Octave\Octave-3.8.1\share\octave\packages\

now I'm inclined to post it somewhere.
