How to update @ bookmark with older Mercurial version

On my box I have Mercurial 2.1.1 (tied to my Linux distro). AFAIU Jordi's
post

that version does not (seem to?) automatically advance the @ bookmark. 

I'd like to push some fixes (e.g., for bug #42528) that I imported in a
newly cloned repo. 
Tortoisehg (on my Linux box) shows that the @ bookmark is still in the
previous changeset from the remote repo ( 19000:1ad621d894ba  Fix set(gca,
'xtick', []) with gnuplot backend (bug #42936) ).
So my question is: how can I push and advance the @ bookmark with Mercurial
v. 2.1.1? Or should I just not bother and push anyway?
