We have 3 students who are working on improving Octave under Google Summer of Code this year. Asma Afzal will add Matlab-compatible wrappers to the Optimization package; Antonio Pino will improve the performance of funm and related functions for operating on matrices; and Piotr Held will write an interface to the time series analysis library TISEAN.
