Renaming gripes

All,

Coming back to this subject, what about simply renaming the gripes that
call warning with to warn_XXX and the gripes that call error to error_XXX? 
This makes it very clear in the code what eventually will happen and one
doesn't need to remember a cute pattern such as gripe->error, grumble->warn.
