GSOC 16 project ideas

Hello,
This is Nayan Joshi, a IIIrd year undergraduate researcher in Robotics Research Lab at International Institute Of Information Technology, Hyderabad.

I was going through the Octave's GSOC '16 project ideas and happen to like the following projects:

1.)Improve Octave's image IO: I have good experience with Computer Vision and Digital image processing and have done a few projects in them as well. I very much would like to contribute towards this project.

2.)Tisean Package

3.) Symbolic package

I have proficiency in C/CPP, and decent experience with Python , Octave and Matlab.

I would like to seek your guidance on how to start contributing towards these projects. Any kind of help will be highly appreciated.
