Discussing GSoC project ideas is more suited to the maintainers list,
moving there (and adding Colin in cc).

Hi, you can see a summary of the results of last summer's project here:
https://genuinelucifer.wordpress.com/

Since you have knowledge of both C++ and Python, are you more interested
in working with details of the interface to the Python interpreter (a
good amount of C++, good knowledge of Python internals, and some Octave
m-file functions), or more interested in working with the Octave wrapper
around the SymPy library (mostly Octave m-file classes and functions
with embedded inline Python and SymPy code)?

You can see the current status of the respective projects here:
  https://bitbucket.org/mtmiller/pytave
  https://github.com/cbm755/octsympy

Please ask questions on the maintainers list if you are interested and
need help getting started or figuring out where you would like to start
contributing. Actively participating on the mailing lists and the
relevant projects is a good start to a successful summer of code
application.
