You can see functions currently implemented in Octave at

There are some lists of missing functions, see
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Octave#Function_compatibility
Which functions are most frequently used or important will depend on the user, so it's hard to rank them. Some priorities for development that have been identified are given as suggested projects at
