Try https://www.gnu.org/software/octave/get-involved.html. If you can get that working, then run 'make check' and look at test/fntests.log. At the end of the log you will find a list of m-files without tests. Also, this wiki page is a good resource for how to write BIST tests: http://wiki.octave.org/Add_BIST_tests_for_octave_functions_written_in_C%2B%2B.
