Follow-up Comment #22, patch #7857 (project octave):

Great!  It wasn't anything tricky then.  I'm guessing your Qt version is
slightly more recent than mine and developers made the file watcher slightly
more sensitive--probably open for writing is a "change-on-disk" but not open
for reading.

Note that each file_editor_tab has its own file watcher member.  One file
watcher might be enough, but that change is low priority and should be done as
a single change.
