* Don't focus too early on one candidate, always move forward with three
candidates in case top pick drops out.
+## Remaining steps:
-## Proposal
+* Approve Tal
+* Set up a phonecall (waiting on him for times)
+* Give him three assignments to get started.
-Goals:
+## Draft internship goals for Tal Schechter.
+
+### Tal's situation / needs / commitment:
+
+Tal said he can do:
+* 5 hours per week baseline
+* possibly up to 15 hours
+* remote work with some visits to the office (he's at Hampshire)
+
+* He says he's primarily interested in writing, which makes perfect sense.
+* I asked him for some writing samples to help inform what we can put him on.
+
+### Proposed work:
+
+Working with Holmes
+* DefectiveByDesign writing
+* Playogg.org writing
+* A couple posts on FSF.org
+* Possibly campaigns email writing.
+
+Working with Matt
+* Windows7 ????
+* Matt should fill this in
+
+### His proposal of how to spend his time:
+
+Holmes,
+
+Thank you for this great offer. I would like to take you up on it. I now
have to restructure my schedule because it is a bit too full at the moment for
an internship. I think I would be able to commit at least 5 hours a week, and
up to 15 depending on the work load for a particular week.
+I would be interested in doing something that would have me writing. I do not
care much what that would be. I looked at the campaigns section of the FSF
website as well as at the new site, Windows7Sins, but only found that
defectivebydesign.org was really getting new things written for it. If I am
mistaken, I would be happy to work on anything else.
+
+I am willing to come into Boston every once in a while, classes permitting. I
will be there for Software Freedom Day (along with a sizable contingent from my
school).
+
+Thanks again,
+Tal
+
+### Goals:
FSF has interns that help FSF campaigns and become strong advocates for free
software.
