[Openexr-devel] OpenEXR 1.7.0 dist - can't build IlmBase (and perhaps ot

From: Joseph Goldstone
Subject: [Openexr-devel] OpenEXR 1.7.0 dist - can't build IlmBase (and perhaps others?) against Mac OS X 10.5 SDK
Date: Tue, 28 Sep 2010 09:23:35 -0400

On Mac OS X 10.6.4, with the latest downloadable tarball of IlmBase (IlmBase 1.0.2), I get the blowout that others have mentioned involving -Wno-long-double. No news there.

But if I edit the Makefile (here, the Makefile for Half) to take out -Wno-long-double, and specify that I want to link against the Mac OS X 10.5 SDK, then I get a different kind of error.

In the transcript that follows, the first item is the 'configure' invocation, then 'make', then a cleanup of Half/Makefile as above, and then another 'make' invocation leading to the final failure.

I didn't try to build other libraries (either in IlmBase or other OpenEXR components) against the 10.5 SDK, nor did I try and download the latest trunk to see if this were fixed. If you believe it would be useful for either of those actions (other components, or against trunk) let me know.

ps: oh, other data point: if I remove the --enable-osx-sdk=MacOSX10.5, then having removed the -Wno-long-double flag is enough to get at least Half to compile. I'm researching with my customer base to see if I can let go of 10.5 compatibility.
