It's been a long time I did a pan checkout so...

address@hidden:~/build/pan$ ./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr/local/
processing .
Running aclocal ...
aclocal: configure.in: 36: macro `AM_PATH_PROG_WITH_TEST' not found in library
aclocal: configure.in: 36: macro `AM_PATH_PROG_WITH_TEST' not found in library
aclocal: configure.in: 36: macro `AM_LC_MESSAGES' not found in library

**Error**: aclocal failed. This may mean that you have not
installed all of the packages you need, or you may need to
set ACLOCAL_FLAGS to include "-I $prefix/share/aclocal"
for the prefix where you installed the packages whose
macros were not found

Judging from previous posts this must be a missing gtk2, but...

ii libgtk2.0-dev 2.0.2-2

is installed on my debian system.

Could autogen please give some more sensible messages about missing
dependencies?

Frank
