Since it was I who request this, I feel obliged to answer.  The reason
for the change was that it was too easy to accidentally mark the whole
group read, an irreversible action.  More details in the bug report:

It looks that everyone can't be made happy.  Although I would also
be happy with a confirmation dialogue for the irreversible actions
instead of the altered order.

What's your argument for having "Mark Group Read" at the top, BTW?
