snip of configure script output follows:

try_gtkspell yes
trying gtkspell
checking for gtkspell-2.0 >= 2.0.2... Package gtkspell-2.0 was not found
in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gtkspell-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'gtkspell-2.0' found
configure: error: Can't find gtkspell; try
http://gtkspell.sourceforge.net or --disable-gtkspell
address@hidden pan-0.13.3]$ rpm -qa | grep gtkspell
gtkspell-2.0.2-1

and

address@hidden pan-0.13.3]$ rpm -ql gtkspell
/usr/doc/gtkspell-2.0.2/AUTHORS
/usr/doc/gtkspell-2.0.2/COPYING
/usr/doc/gtkspell-2.0.2/ChangeLog
/usr/doc/gtkspell-2.0.2/INSTALL
/usr/doc/gtkspell-2.0.2/NEWS
/usr/doc/gtkspell-2.0.2/README
/usr/local/include/gtkspell-2.0/gtkspell/gtkspell.h
/usr/local/lib/libgtkspell.a
/usr/local/lib/libgtkspell.la
/usr/local/lib/libgtkspell.so
/usr/local/lib/libgtkspell.so.0
/usr/local/lib/libgtkspell.so.0.0.0
/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig/gtkspell-2.0.pc

So, what exactly do I need to do to get the build process to find the
gtkspell files?

The 0.13.3 betas have all worked with gtkspell without any adjustment,
so the standard RedHat paths seem to work with my gtkspell package just
fine.
