Also the newest Debian(7.2) release ships with the non SSL version.

Actually, I'm not sure what Mint 13 ships with...  I used the 0.139 
version with Mint 12, and installed it instead of the one shipped.
I have and am using the pan2-0.139.deb which I downloaded when Klaus 
first built it.  Am still using it.  Something messed up my other Mint 13 
install, and had no x-session software, I only had login via cli.  I had 
downloaded Mint 15 to try it out, and had deleted it.  Reinstalled it, 
Copied my Home partition to another drive, and reformated the Mint 13 
drive and reinstalled.  Copied back the Home partition, and had done both 
installs and updates overnight.  

Slept from about 6 AM until noon and then finished getting both versions 
the way I like them to look and operate.  Burned my Home partition copy 
to a BD-R or two, this time.  I have 37 gig or so just in my Music 
folder.....
