The first one IMO is better; the bold text at the second is too intense
and distracts from the graphic and its clever visual effect. 

Perhaps the // effect in parallel would be more eye-pleasant if the
typeface was such that the last l was not a single line (such as for
example 'Century Schoolbook L').
