Have you considered to use some of the code available from PDFlib GmbH? Look at http://www.pdflib.com/en/products/pdflib-family/pdflib-lite/ Would be quite useful to use some parts of that library (I am thinking in the font support and some parts in the pdcore/ directory). The first step is to decide about the compatibility of the license in http://www.pdflib.com/fileadmin/pdflib/pdf/license/PDFlib-Lite-license.pdf If it is compatible with GPLv3 then we will examine which parts would be useful to incorporate into libgnupdf.
