Well, no it isnt required, but i want a pam module because of the
posibilities for centralized authentication (not as much as say, pure
pam support on php or even some way to auth over the same ldap records
as other apps)...its a quick and dirty way to have phpgwusers have
certain access to samba/squid/mail/apache...etc....itdbe cool too! and
it would preserve good encrcypted passwords all the way (provided that
apache runs over ssl...samba auth in crypted mode...etc., etc., any
other way would expose phpgw's password arround)....you see???

Its only until phpgw supports pam, then it will be obsolete
